New 2.7L Turbo and 3.0L Duramax Engines Bring Impressive Power, Fuel Economy, and Towing Capacity

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado features two new incredible engine options that deliver great performance, even while towing! Today we will take a look at GM’s 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel and 2.7L turbo engines.

“We designed the all-new Silverado and the all-new 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel to deliver both performance and efficiency,” said Tim Herrick, Silverado executive chief engineer. With optimal fuel economy approaching 7.1 L / 100km on the highway, GM’s new Duramax engine is shockingly efficient. A 10-speed automatic transmission makes for smooth operation and aggressive response. Great efficiency doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice power either – the new Duramax delivers 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Pair it with four-wheel drive and you can tow up to 9,300 lbs!

GM’s new 3.0L Duramax engine is made from highly durable iron, aluminum, and forged steel for enhanced reliability and quality, while a balanced configuration limits noise and vibrations. Active Thermal Management warms up components for more efficient operation, while driver-selectable stop/start technology lets you save even more fuel by shutting off the engine when your vehicle comes to a stop. With all this in mind, it’s easy to see why the Chevy Silverado is one of the most efficient pick-ups in the world when paired with a 3.0L Turbo-Diesel!

Not interested in a diesel engine? Consider the all-new, highly advanced 2.7 L turbo engine! This engine replaced GM’s 4.3L V6 as the standard engine on Silverado LT and Silverado RST. 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque mean this isn’t your typical four-cylinder engine. Developed specifically for trucks, this new turbo engine gets your Silverado to 100 km/hr in around 7 seconds and even offers 380 lbs of weight savings over the previously included V6. Active Fuel Management, Active Thermal Management, and stop/start technology are included in GM’s new 2.7L turbo for increased efficiency. Paired with this engine, a Chevy Silverado can reach fuel economy approaching 10L/100km on the highway. You can even tow up to 7,200 lbs!

No matter which engine you choose, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado provides great power, towing capacity, and surprising fuel efficiency. Talk to a Preston Sales Consultant for more details and make sure to swing by the dealership this month to take advantage of Truck Month offers!
