GMC Reveals Additional Hummer EV Details, Still Plans for 2021 Launch

Back in February 2020, we discussed an exciting reveal from GMC as they announced the All-Electric Hummer EV. Although the full unveiling planned for May 2020 was ultimately postponed due to COVID-19, GMC has continued to periodically release new information about this exciting electric vehicle as we approach production.

One of the most interesting new developments was the announcement that the GMC Hummer EV would be a “zero limits” super truck. What exactly does that mean? It means the Hummer EV will feature a revolutionary open-air design, allowing for easy removal of four roof panels and the vehicle’s front t-bar. This will create an incredible open feeling that can’t be matched by a traditional sunroof or standard removable top.

A series of video advertisements for the new Hummer EV was also released, with two ads featuring basketball superstar LeBron James to help introduce the Hummer EV’s “quiet revolution”. GMC expects the Hummer EV will be a total game-changer, just like James has been a game-changer in the basketball world.

Previously we learned the GMC Hummer EV will be capable of reaching speeds approaching 100km/hr in just 3 seconds and will also feature up to 1,000 horsepower plus 11,500 lb-ft of torque. All this with no emissions whatsoever. GMC has yet to release further info on the vehicle’s specs or propulsion system, but it will no doubt be exciting to see exactly what powers this beast of an EV.

Although a full unveiling was pushed back and production could still be delayed due to COVID-19 production shutdowns, development of the GMC Hummer EV has continued uninterrupted and the vehicle’s launch is still planned for 2021 as of now. Stay tuned for more details as we receive them! In the meantime, if you’re interested in electric vehicles, make sure to talk to a Preston Sales Consultant about the all-electric Chevrolet Bolt EV.
