It’s time to meet the world’s first all-electric supertruck! The highly anticipated, first-ever GMC Hummer EV has been unveiled as of October 20, 2020. We’ve been covering the Hummer EV ever since initial details emerged and we are excited to take a deeper dive into this exciting new vehicle in today’s blog post.
Let’s start with performance. The GMC Hummer EV is all-electric with no emissions, but will hang with the best when it comes to power. GM estimates a 0-60 mph time of just 3 seconds – that’s nearly 100 km/hr in the blink of an eye. The Hummer EV will generate approximately 1000 horsepower and 11,500 lb. ft. of torque to go along with its impressive speed. Then there’s the always important question of range. All trim levels feature exceptional range on a single charge, with more than 400 km of range on the base EV2 trim level and over 550 km on the top Edition 1 trim.
Electric vehicles have traditionally been best utilized on city streets, but the Hummer EV is ready for off-road adventures with its independent front and rear suspension and full underbody armour. A first-of-its-kind Extract Mode allows your Hummer EV to activate Adaptive Air Ride Suspension, raising the vehicle up to an impressive 6 inches to avoid obstacles. You can also utilize CrabWalk, an incredible new feature that turns the vehicle’s rear wheels up to 10 degrees in either direction, allowing for diagonal driving at low speeds. UltraVision features up to eighteen real-time camera views, including underbody cameras, that help you see your surroundings. 35″ tires come standard on the Hummer EV, and it can accept tires up to 37”. This is truly an electric vehicle with no compromises.
Visually, the Hummer EV is striking with its vertically divided grille, low-roof profile, and unique taillamps. Its Infinity Roof and modular Sky Panels not only look great, but also allow for an immersive open-air driving experience. Inside the Hummer EV, luxury and technology await. Large high-definition screens are built-in to the Driver Information Centre and dashboard, keeping essential information and media features at your fingertips. The latest version of GM’s Super Cruise will be available, allowing for hands-free driving and automatic lane changes on compatible roads.
So when will this incredible new supertruck make its debut? You’ll have to wait a little longer – the EV Edition 1 trim will debut in the United States in Fall 2021 with three other trims to follow in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Here in Canada, we are expecting to see initial availability in Fall 2022. Stay tuned for more details on pricing and availability!
