Turbocharged Truck: Silverado 1500 2.7L

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is capable, comfortable, and confident. With the most functional truck bed in the industry, available Super Cruise driver assistance technology, and a vast lineup of trims and special editions, there’s a Silverado perfect for you.

Today we are going to look specifically at Chevrolet’s 1500’s 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine, which comes standard on WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST Double Cab, and LT Trail Boss variants of the Silverado. This engine was designed from the ground up as a truck engine and is subjected to the same rigorous durability standards as the Silverado’s proven V8 engines.

Featuring 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of maximum torque, this standard engine provides an impressive amount of power and durability, a full 22% more torque than the V6 engine it replaced in Chevrolet’s lineup. A unique dual volute turbocharger delivers torque on demand, with priority oiling and cooling for the most demanding situations you need to tackle. Paired with an automatic transmission and Active Fuel Management, this turbo engine also provides great fuel efficiency.

The 2.7L Turbo engine is incredibly light for a truck engine, a full 380 lbs less than the previous generation V6. Built at GM’s Spring Hill facility in Tennessee, this engine delivers comparable payload capability and greater torque than V6 engine offerings from Ford and Ram. In addition to the aforementioned 2.7L engine, Chevrolet also offers a 5.3L Ecotec3 V8, 6.2L Ecotec3 V8, and Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel (depending on your trim level).
