Buick is one of North American’s longest-running automotive brands, with its history dating back well over a century. However, Buick is transforming itself in a massive, unprecedented way, starting with a restyled badge and new design aesthetic – as well as the futuristic Buick Wildcat EV concept vehicle.
Buick plans to shift to an all-electric vehicle lineup starting in 2024, with the entire lineup set to transform by the end of the decade. Coinciding with this new vision, Buick has unveiled a concept vehicle called the Wildcat EV, which boldly demonstrates the new Buick vision and design direction.
With choreographed lighting elements, a forward-leaning front-end appearance, and an aggressive roofline profile, the Wildcat EV concept is visually striking. “From every angle, the vehicle looks like it’s ready to pounce,” says Bob Boniface, Director of Global Buick Design. “It’s the result of careful attention to the proportions and sculptural beauty derived from the intersection of forms, not lines.”
“The Wildcat EV concept represents the real design future for the brand,” says Sharon Gauci, Executive Director of Global Buick Design. “Buick has always been forward looking and this expression is a glimpse of where we’re going, and the optimism we have for the limitless possibilities of an electric future.”
A modern electric lineup calls for modern technology, of course. Buick’s lineup already features Amazon Alexa built-in, allowing drivers to play music, ask for directions, and more. The available Head-Up Display projects critical information on the windshield so you can keep your eyes on the road. Available Automatic Parking Assist searches for parallel or perpendicular parking spaces and then steers and brakes as needed to park your vehicle. The Wildcat EV concept takes technological innovation even further, with a sweeping touchscreen along the instrument panel, a heart rate meter that activates driver-calming settings, and integrated massage seats.
As a concept vehicle, the Buick Wildcat EV is not available to purchase, but will inspire future Buick vehicles. We look forward to seeing what other innovations Buick introduces as they electrify their lineup!
